Introduction

Being Remembered ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users and the families they serve. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our memorial presentation creation platform.

We understand that the photographs and memories shared through our platform are deeply personal and sensitive. We treat all uploaded content with the utmost respect and care.

We automatically collect certain information when you use our platform:

  • Device and browser information
  • IP address and location data
  • Usage patterns and feature interactions
  • Error logs and performance data

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain our memorial presentation services
  • Process and generate AI-enhanced photos and videos
  • Communicate with you about your account and services, including one-time sign-in codes and account notifications by email and, if you provide a phone number, text message
  • Improve our platform and develop new features
  • Ensure the security of our platform
  • Comply with legal obligations

Text Messaging (SMS)

If you provide a mobile phone number, we may use it to send you text messages (SMS) for two purposes: one-time passcodes for signing in to your account, and account notifications about your memorial programs (such as upload reminders and notices that a completed tribute is ready to view).

You provide your phone number and consent to receive these messages when you request a sign-in code, when you are invited to the platform, or when you create your account. Message frequency varies based on your activity. Message and data rates may apply from your mobile carrier.

You can opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message from us, and reply HELP for assistance. Opting out of SMS does not affect your ability to sign in using email instead.

We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile phone number or SMS consent with third parties, and we never use it for marketing by unaffiliated parties. Your phone number is used only to deliver the messages described above through our messaging provider.

Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest (AES-256)
  • Secure cloud infrastructure with access controls
  • Security best practices and vulnerability monitoring
  • Limited employee access on a need-to-know basis

Photographs and generated videos are stored securely and are only accessible to the platform and authorized users associated with the memorial program.

Data Retention

We retain memorial content (photos, audio, videos) according to your account settings and service agreement. You may request deletion of specific programs or all associated data at any time.

Account information is retained for the duration of your account and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal obligations.

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate our platform:

  • Cloud hosting providers for secure data storage and processing
  • AI service providers for photo restoration and video generation
  • Authentication services for secure login
  • Analytics services to improve our platform

These providers are bound by contractual obligations to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
